Todd Agnew on Bible Memorization

Todd Agnew talks about how Bible memorization has been so powerful in his life.

"When you are faithful to place the Word of God in your heart, he is faithful to place it in your life."

Inspiring!

Memory Verses for New Christians

Yesterday I spotted a great article on Dave Quinn's Passion Blog titled Memory Verses for New Christians. Dave says:

"I am a big believer in memorising Scripture to help you grow and stay strong in your faith. This is especially important for new Christians as it helps to fill yourself with God's Word and to keep you on track."

He then listed a fantastic set of foundational memory verses. Based on his list I quickly put together the course Memory Verses for New Christians. Check it out!

Thanks for the great post Dave.

Merry Christmas from WalkingBible

It's a fantastic time of year where we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. A time to come back to what is truly important and focus on the miracle of Christ's birth, and what that means for us as believers. What a truly precious gift! We pray you have a fantastic holiday season and a truly blessed 2010.

In WalkingBible news we are very excited to unveil this new version of WalkingBible. The new site takes many of the features of the software (and much more) and brings them online. Some of the new features include:

* No download required!
* Build your own Bible memory courses and tests.
* Challenge your friends, create groups and share courses.
* Take it with you in audio, video and even printable course materials.

We'd love you to sign up and join us. We all make those New Year's Resolutions to be more disciplined with our Bible learning and what better way to get started? Of course while we are in this early launch phase we'll need your help to report any issues. So please don't hesitate to get in touch using the red feedback button to the left, send us an email, or check my profile and message me on the site. All feedback is much appreciated.

Again, all the best for a wonderful Christmas.

WalkingBible mentioned at Cottonwood Church

In his sermon “Praise with Understanding Part 4″ at Cottonwood Church, Bayless Conley recommends WalkingBible as “an amazing way to let to the Word of God to dwell in you”.

Its a fantastic sermon. You can stream it from the Cottonwood website here.

WalkingBible Software Fixes

We’ve rolled out two small fixes to WalkingBible just recently. The most important one was a fix to a bug which stopped some users from being able to download verses and pictures through the software. This was generally because the user was connected to the internet via a proxy connection. The new update provides a little workaround for this. If you’ve been experiencing a problem getting to downloads through the software uninstall WalkingBible and get the new version.

The second little update was just change the database reference from ‘Revelations’ to ‘Revelation’ - thanks to the eagle eyed users who helped us spot that!

Back home and back on deck

Hi everyone - I’m very sorry the blog has been quiet here for a little. I took some time out in December to have a holiday and move back home to Australia. Its been busy getting back and exciting getting things moving again. We’re looking at our plans, brainstorming for the future, seeing how we take WalkingBible to new heights. For me personally too I’m really feeling challenged to pursue God’s Word with more and more commitment - to delight in it, enjoy it, learn from it, engage with it, let it heal and restore, allow it to guide my steps… I know that memorisation of key verses is an important part of it too. Maybe you are feeling similarly challenged and inspired?

WalkingBible Short Ones #1: Great Memory Verses for Kids

We’ve put together this great little package of twenty verses for kids and young people (or anyone!). These ‘Short Ones’ are 20 verses which we’ve selected as being particularly short, sharp and memorable. For this selection we’ve used verses from our NIV musical set with the cartoon style pictures.

Included in this package is the MP3 files (which have the images embedded), the images, PDF’s of double sided flash cards which can be printed and handed out, and a Powerpoint presentation which has the images, audio and verses in written form as flash slides. The Powerpoint is ideal for use on a laptop / projector / PA setup in larger groups.
